Whittier City School District Announces its Superintendent Selection

The Whittier City School District is pleased to announce that a contract for Superintendent has been offered to Dr. Bradley Mason. Mason will assume the role on December 1, 2021.

Dr. Mason comes to Whittier City School District after serving as Superintendent of Schools for the Brea Olinda Unified School District for the past 6-1⁄2 years. During his tenure, he opened magnet schools, implemented a dual language program, expanded elective and CTE offerings at the junior high and high school levels, and partnered with Fullerton College to bring free college courses for high school students. During Mason’s 6-1⁄2 years, Brea schools regularly received statewide recognition from both the California School Boards Association and the California Department of Education.

Prior to his time with BOUSD, Mason worked for the Redlands Unified School District as a Middle School Principal, Director of Human Resources, and Assistant Superintendent of Business Services. Mason has made a career out of growing opportunities for students and educational programs. Mason stated, “I am honored that the Whittier City School Board selected me to become the Superintendent of the school district. I am anxious to begin my work and immerse myself in the Whittier community.”

Mason has been married to his wife Catrina for 32 years and they have two married adult children each with two young children. He earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Azusa Pacific University.
