QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS - WAN
(WILL BE POSTED HERE)

Question 1

Can you please send over the worksheet, attach to the district website  or attach to usac portal in order to price accordingly.

Question 1a

The RFP references a worksheet - “WAN RFP Pricing Module Worksheet by Site and Speed.xls”.  However, I cannot locate that document.  This information is not on the District website.

Answer 1

Sorry for the confusion there is no pricing sheet for this procurement and that statement can be disregarded. All contract terms and speeds requested are listed in the RFP.

Question 2

“Internal routing can not be changed” however the district’s routing has not been discussed in the RFP."
Would you elaborate, please? And thank you!

Answer 2

Our Routers are configured to route between each site. We do not want to change this. The service we are seeking to connect all our site should be transparent to our routing config.

Question 3

“Point to Point” service. MEF compliant ELine service supports two types of EVC(s), Port Based and VLAN Based. This would also be essential to the district’s routing policies.

Carrier Ethernet

Carrier Ethernet is a ubiquitous, standardized, carrier-class service defined by five attributes that distinguish it from familiar LAN based Ethernet.

Carrier Ethernet offers the following benefits:

  • Standardised Services:
E-Line and E-LAN provide transparent, private line, virtual private line and LAN services ideally suited to converged voice, video & data networks.
  • Scalability:
Scalability of bandwidth from 1 Mbps to 10 Gbps and beyond, in granular increments.
  • Reliability:
The ability for the network to detect & recover from incidents without impacting users, with recovery times sub 50ms.
  • Quality of Service:
Services that deliver end-to-end performance matching the requirements for voice, video and data over converged business networks.
  • Service Management:
A network managed to carrier-class standards.

Question 4

is the district open to a hub and spoke Point to Multi point topology  (EVPL) , where sll data traffic is aggregated on a single network between the data center( district office) and  remote sites  (schools)? A single handoff reduces the expense of network equipment and management.

Answer 4

Our expectation is that WAN services will provide each site a dedicated fiber connection back to district office. Our Existing WAN service provides a switch at each school site, each school site has a dedicated fiber hand off connection back to the District Office each fiber pair is servicing a site individually. The District is seeking a monthly recurring cost for WAN, The District will not be responsible for cost of network or installation cost. Bid accordingly

Question 5

if we cant provide a monitoring tool now are you open to receiving weekly utilization reports ?

Answer 5

NO , we expect to see data traffic in real time.

Question 6  Per page 6, “Points will be awarded based on the Evaluation Criteria indicated in Section H for a total sum of 100 points; the vendor with the highest points total will be awarded the RFP:”

can you provide a copy of “Section H”, the Evaluation Criteria? I did not find any Evaluation Criteria or “Section H” in the RFP document.

 Answer 6

Here is Section H Evaluation thats missing.

Question 1

My question is regarding the taxes listed on your form on page 11 of the bid.

We get a tax rate for your address as 10.25%

On the form it is listed as 10%

Is this an error or are you shipping the hardware to another location with a 10% tax rate.

We need to use the correct tax rate of course,

Please review and advise.

Answer 1

Yes that is a mistake , please adjust tax to 10.25%
